Lot Description

A mid-Victorian combination scent bottle and vinaigrette by Sampson Mordan, the clear glass rectangular body with canted neck, having silver-gilt hinged lid and a further silver-gilt hinge opening base revealing a foliate decorated grille. Hallmarked to cover and base London 1862 with maker's mark. Height 4" (10cm).

Glass body with a few scuffs and nicks to edges, and cloudy interior. Silver gilt worn in places, and with scratches and small knocks, and some tarnishing. Cover closes to, however push action mechanism does not work and cover does not release without being manually opened. Cover also missing cork stopper, and with some wear beneath. Base closes flush.
