Lot 293

Lot Description

A continental vesta case, possibly Dutch, of scrolled outline enclosing a mythological scene to the front depicting a group of nymphs and a satyr, with personal name engraving verso. Marked with three crosses to the inner rim. Length 6.8 cm, weight 30.6 grams.

Postage: Postable

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Some heavy tarnishing throughout and would benefit from a clean and polish.

Displaying some expected surface wear, marks and scratches, which appear heavier to the plainer metal of the reverse. Also numerous little surface dints and nicks, particularly visible around the edges and to the corners. Seam line visible in this same area with a little crack at one corner.

Hinged lid appears in good working order.

Surface rubbing and loss of detail to some areas of the decoration.

There are further markings alongside the crosses, possibly reads L7?
