Lot Description

A late Victorian 18ct gold, natural blister pearl, Burmese ruby, emerald, sapphire and rose-cut diamond stag beetle brooch.

Verbal from GCS, stating natural blister pearl and Burma, no heat ruby.
Length 4.2cms. 11gms.

<li>Overall condition good to fair.


<li>One single-cut diamond replacement to a mandible, nicked.

<li>Diamonds are in closed back setting which prevents accurate colour grading, face up appear to range from SI -P1.

<li>Sapphires and emerald untested regarding origin or treatment.

<li>Emerald appears a vibrant, medium, slightly bluish green hue.

<li>Emerald calculated weight 0.37ct, based on estimated dimensions 4.5 by 4.1 by 3.2mms.

<li>Sapphires are a well matched, deep, slightly violetish blue hue.

<li>Ruby is a deep medium, slightly pinkish red hue. Eye-visible inclusions.

<li>Ruby calculated weight 0.62ct, based on estimated dimensions 5.5 by 5 by 2.4mms.

<li>Blister pearl with wear to nacre in one spot at the height of the dome, strong rose and green overtones.

<li>Estimated dimensions of blister pearl 17.5 by 13mms.
