Lot Description

A 1930's silver sauce boat, the typical oval bellied form with applied gadroon rim, foliate capped scroll handle and raised on three stepped hoof feet, hallmarked S Blanckensee & Son Ltd., Chester 1933, length 6.75" (17cm). Together with another sauce boat with scalloped rim, hallmarked Birmingham, same date and maker. Total weight 12.48 ozt (388.2 grams). (2).

Both with some heavy tarnishing throughout and would benefit from a clean and polish.

Both also displaying general surface wear, marks and scratches consistent with their age and use.

Some surface nicks and pitting marks, especially visible to the interiors.

A couple of minor dints or 'pimple' marks to the Chester example. Hallmarks clear and legible, maker's mark a little rubbed.

Birmingham sauce boat with several splits to rim. A few minor dints and impression from handle visible to interior. Possible small repair to lower scroll of handle. Knocks to feet, one now at a funny angle. Hallmarks with some heavy rubbing.
