Lot Description

A mid-20th century silver cased compact, the shaped oval outline with engine turned decoration and hinge opening to a mirror reverse and a removable mesh, hallmarked Birmingham 1944, length 4" (10cm). Together with a further example of curved square form and also engine turned, hallmarked Birmingham 1920 or 1945, length 2.75" (7cm). (2).

Both cases with some heavy tarnishing and would benefit from a clean and polish.

Both displaying some expected surface wear, marks and scratches from general use.

Oval case with some movement to hinges. Clasp in working order and still closes securely. Mirror plate inside is loose in the mount. Hallmarked to interior, a little rubbed but clearly legible. Maker's mark possibly M Wachenheimer & Co Ltd.

Hinged lid of square case appears in good working order and closes securely. Hallmarked to interior, maker's mark W.A, possibly William Adams Ltd.
