Lot Description

An 18th century Russian silver vodka cup, the cusped oval form decorated with drapery swags each having a central flower motif, with scroll handle and raised on a flared oval foot. Assay marks struck to base for Moscow 1789, with cyrillic maker's mark and possible attribution to Alexei Kosinov (Moscow 1762-1791), with repeated city mark to handle and inner foot. Height 3.5cm, weight 35 grams.

Appears in fairly good overall condition given the age.

Displaying expected surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing. Traces of gilding to interior.

Possible solder repair around join of top of handle to main body.

Some edge knocks and dints to foot. Small split/gap at join to base.

Assay marks located to base, slight impression from these marks to the inner base causing some pitting to the surface. With repeated city marks to inner foot and handle. Some heavier rubbing and partial distortion to some of the marks but mostly legible.  

There is a further mark to base A.B, possibly an Assay Master mark for Alexei Viklyayev (1781-1809 Moscow).
