Lot 26

Lot Description

A set of six George III Scottish silver table spoons, with plain Celtic Point terminal, hallmarked Francis Howden, Edinburgh 1795. Together with a set of six similar dessert spoons, hallmarked Edinburgh 1796, probably Alexander Spence. Weight 18.15 ozt (564.6 grams).

Postage: Postable

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

All the spoons appear in good overall condition considering their age.

Displaying some general expected surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing.

Some heavier contact wear to bowls with some bumps and nicks. On some examples, the metal appears slightly thinner around edges and tips. But overall bowls have faired well.

Some flattening and loss of detail to drops on heel reverses, more so to table spoons.

Also some rounding of the tips of terminals, more so on dessert spoons.

All hallmarks located to reverse of terminals, some light rubbing but all clearly legible.
