Lot Description

A pair of Edwardian silver sauce boats, each of typical oval bellied form with scalloped rim, flying scroll handle and raised on three trefoil feet, together with a pair of small ladles, all in an original fitted retailer's case. Hallmarked Richard Martin & Ebenezer Hall, Sheffield 1909 and impressed with retailer's name. Length of sauce boats 6" (15.2cm), length of ladles 4.5" (11.5cm), weight 9.79 ozt (304.5 grams).

All appear in good overall condition, displaying some expected general surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.

Hallmarks all clear and legible with some light rubbing. Sauce boats with impressed retailer's name Rainforth & Son, Newport, which matches the box.

Box appears in fairly good overall condition with a few scuffs and tears.
