Full Lot Description
A Victorian silver novelty owl mustard pot and spoon, modelled in a standing position with feather detailing to the whole, the hinged head with red and black glass eyes and holding in it's beak the mouse finial to the spoon, opening to a blue glass liner. Hallmarked George John Richards, London 1851. Height 4" (10cm), gross weight excluding liner 4.71 ozt (146.6 grams).

<li>Displaying general surface wear, marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use.
<li>Residues of polish and heavy tarnishing to some areas and would benefit from a further clean and polish.
<li>Interior of body with heavy staining/tarnishing. Head with gilt interior.
<li>Some minor surface dints and bumps to the whole.
<li>Surface wear and rubbing to areas of the decoration causing loss of detail to some areas.
<li>Seam line visible to the head, with possible small solder repairs, seen from the interior.
<li>Some dark patches also visible to interior of head.
<li>Further likely repairs including at the joins of the beak and feet.
<li>Hinges with slight movement but in working order.
<li>Spoon with likely repairs to stem. Mouse with floods of solder to underside of body.
<li>Hallmarks to main body significantly rubbed but there are clearer part hallmarks to interior of head, comprising the maker's mark, date letter and lion passant.
<li>Marks to spoon also very worn and partly illegible. Date letter illegible, maker's mark partly rubbed but still legible and is matching.
<li>Glass liner with a small chip along one of the straight edges.
