Lot Description

An early to mid 19th century, silver and gold vari-cut diamond cross pendant.
May be worn as a brooch.

Estimated total diamond weight 3cts, G-tinted colour, VS2-P1 clarity.

Length 5.8cms. 10.1gms.

<li>Wear in keeping with age.

<li>Replacement/later brooch fittings.

<li>One single-cut diamond presumed replacement.

<li>Diamonds in closed back settings, presumed foil back.

<li>Some diamonds appear tinted yellowy, brown and slightly pinkish brown hues. It is unknown how much of the colour is deterioration of the foil backing.

<li>Few diamonds show small chips/nicks.

<li>Reverse electronically tests as between approximately 12 and 14ct gold.

<li>Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
