Lot Description

A late 19th century pearl single-strand necklace, comprising eighty-two pearls, to the silver and gold old-cut diamond clasp.

Estimated diameter of pearls 4.6 to 4.1mms.
Estimated total diamond weight 0.65cts, J-tinted colour, VS2-SI1 clarity.
Length 46cms.
Pearls untested for natural origin.

<li>Clasp shows general discolouration and surface wear.

<li>Diamonds in closed back, presumed foil back mount. Two diamonds appear well matched, tinted yellow, one appears better colour. One diamond nicked to the pavilion.

 

<li>Length of clasp 1.4cms.

<li>Pearls untested for natural origin.

<li>Pearls are off round, button and barrel shape.<p>

<li>Pearl colour vary from a silvery white, through cream and brownish peachy hues, with varying rose and green overtones. Pearls of varying lustre.<p>

<li>Few pearls show fine cracks or minor damages to the nacre.
