Lot Description

A late 19th century silver and 15ct gold, rose-cut diamond, pearl and blister pearl fly brooch.

Length 4.7cms. 7.8gms.
Pearls untested for natural origin.

<li>Varied discolouration, marks in keeping with wear.

<li>Soft solder attaching fly to the pin.

<li>Pearl to the pin rotates freely. Wear and discolouration.

<li>Diamonds appear well matched. Three diamonds with small chips.

 

<li>Larger pearl appears semi-barrel-shape with a flat base, flat base shows circular growth and discolouration. Pearl appears a whitish hue with fair lustre and general surface marks. Estimated dimensions 10.2 by 8.7 by 5.3mms.<p>
<li>The bar and fly electronically test as approximately 15ct gold.<p>

<li>Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
