Full Lot Description

A pair of late Victorian silver knife rests, modelled as andirons with baluster supports and diamond shape feet. Hallmarked William Hutton & Sons Ltd., London 1896. Length 3.75" (9.5cm), weight 5.1 ozt (158.5 grams).

<li>Both are heavily tarnished throughout and would benefit from a good clean and polish.

<li>Residues of previous polish are visible.

<li>With overall surface wear, marks, scratches and nicks commensurate with the age and general use.

<li>Some heavier wear around the edges, in particular around the edges of the diamond shape feet; the pointed tips are now a little rounded and blunt; with surface scuffs and heavier nicks and pitting type marks to the base of each; also dirt residues.

<li>Both do stand steady on their feet.

<li>Hallmarks located to top of bars, these with some rubbing and residues of previous polish in some of the punches and one of the maker's marks is a little distorted but all are legible.
