Lot Description

A mid 19th century gold turquoise triquetra brooch, on foliate engraved lattice ground, suspending a detachable turquoise fringe.

French assay marks. Length 6.7cms. 12.7gms.

<li>General light marks and wear.
<li>Wear to the gilt finish at the top of the brooch at the reverse, along with scratches, evidence of chemical gold testing.

<li>Pin hinge is slightly loose, connecting post at hinge is loose. 
<li>Varied discolouration.

<li>Slight soft solder visible to the sides at the join of the back plate.

<li>Turquoise varies from a light blue to a light greenish blue hue, with slight medium brown matrix.

<li>Approximate dimensions of central turquoise 7.3 by 6.1mms, unable to ascertain depth due to setting.
