Full Lot Description

Five George I silver table spoons, in Hanoverian Rat-tail pattern, comprising a Britannia standard pair, hallmarked London 1719, a sterling silver pair, hallmarked London 1721, all with engraved crest to terminal reverse, and a further initial engraved example, hallmarked London 1723, all with maker's marks for Henry Clarke I; together with another 18th century Hanoverian table spoon with decorated heel. Weight 10.2ozt (317.7g). (6).

  • All spoons displaying some general surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with their age and use.
  • With some surface dints and bumps and slightly heavier wear to the bowls, but they have generally faired quite well and mostly retained their shape.
  • Rat-tails to heels have retained much of their definition.
  • The heel decoration on the other spoon is more heavily rubbed with significant loss of detail.
  • Hallmarks are a little squashed and distorted but mostly legible.
  • Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition
