Full Lot Description
A pair of George II cast silver candlesticks, each on shaped square base with shell motif corners, and crest engraving, rising to knopped and baluster stem, further shell shoulders and a spool-shaped socket, with removable nozzles of conforming shell design. Hallmarked William Gould, London 1748, nozzles not marked. Height 21.5cm, weight 30ozt (944.8g).

Condition Report
- Items are in fair condition in consideration of age and use, showing general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing.
- Silver is very bright and shiny.
- Bases and tapered slope to column show nicks and dints all over.
- Shell decoration shows polish and dirt residue.
- Interior of capitals show wax residue and are very dirty.
- Necks of detachable nozzles are very misshapen.
- Both nozzles are quite deeply scratched.
- Hallmarks to base are clear and legible. Hallmarks to capitals are quite rubbed and obscured.
- Nozzles are unmarked, and test around 93% Ag. Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
