Lot 32

Full Lot Description

A pair of Edwardian silver sauce ladles, in plain Old English pattern, hallmarked John Round & Son Ltd., London 1901, length 16.5cm; together with a later pair of sauce ladles, with foliate decoration to handles, hallmarked Mappin & Webb Ltd., Sheffield 1954, length 17.5cm. Weight 9.47ozt (294.6g).

Brand: Mappin & Webb

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: 294.6

Total lot weight: 0.3

  • Both pairs of ladles appear in fairly good overall condition.
  • All displaying some general surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with their age and use.
  • With heavier surface wear to the Edwardian pair, and numerous little surface nicks, mainly seen to the bowls; the drops to the reverse of the bowls are also a little worn and have lost their definition.
  • The Mappin & Webb ladles appear brighter; there is some surface rubbing and slight loss of detail to areas of the decoration.
  • Hallmarks to both pairs are clear and legible with some minor rubbing; hallmark punches on the Edwardian pair are a little blackened with dirt or polish residues.
  • Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition.
