Full Lot Description

A Victorian silver bowl, the circular form decorated with a central band depicting the signs of the Zodiac, within foliate borders, gilt interior, hallmarked Frederick Brasted, London 1874, rim diameter 10cm, height 7cm, in a fitted cased with an associated spoon having similar decoration, hallmarked London 1821. Total silver weight 7.02ozt (218.6g).

  • Victorian bowl:
    • In good overall condition
    • Displaying some general light surface wear, marks and scratches 
    • Decoration appears crisp and has retained much of the detail
    • Gilt interior very bright 
    • Good clear hallmarks located to base
  • George IV spoon:
    • General surface scratches, marks and wear 
    • With some fairly heavy tarnishing all over
    • Slightly heavier wear around the edge and tip of the bowl
    • Hallmarks clear and legible, maker's mark partly distorted, possibly Thomas & George Hayter
  • Fitted case:
    • With some general surface wear, scuffs and minor losses, with heavier wear to the base
    • Slight damage around clasp but does still close securely
    • Material lining appears in fairly good condition overall; some more heavily worn patches and minor stains
