Full Lot Description

A George V silver cigarette case, the rounded rectangular form with engine-turned stripes and monogrammed corner panel, hallmarked Charles S Green & Co Ltd., Birmingham 1924, measuring 8cm by 7cm; together with a slightly later example of engine-turned square shape with initialled corner panel, hallmarked Walker & Hall, Sheffield 1933, measuring 8.5cm square. Gross weight 6.07ozt (188.6g). (2).

  • Both displaying some general surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing consistent with their age and use
  • Some minor surface nicks to both, including around edges and corners
  • 1924 case showing some shallow surface dints
  • 1933 case with a darker mark/band of tarnishing around the centre and seen to front and reverse
  • Hinges and clasps to both appear in good working order and they both close securely
  • Slight gaps remain to some sides when closed
  • 1933 case with blob of solder to hinge on one end
  • Both missing elastic straps to interior
  • Hallmarks to both located inside, and these all clear and legible with minor rubbing
