Great Britain, George III AR 1/2 Dollar. Emergency countermarked coinage, 1799. Host coin: Spain, Carlos III AR 4 Reales. CAROLUS III DEI G 1782, laureate bust to right / HISPANIARUM·REX·, crowned coat of arms, R above crowned M in left field, 4 above J.D in right field. Oval Countermark: laureate bust of St George in incuse oval. Cf. SCBC 3767 (struck on host coin of Carlos IIII rather than IV). 13.18g, 32mm, 12h.
