Full Lot Description
An Italian silver and enamel compact case, of shaped oval outline with engraved foliate-scroll decoration to base, the hinged top with enamel scene of a courting couple, within a sky blue border, and opening to a gilt interior with fitted mirror. Stamped inside ITALY 800 alongside a National mark (rubbed). Maximum length 8.5cm.

Condition Report
- Gross weight is 2.66ozt (82.6g) and is inclusive of mirror and powder mesh inside
- Appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying some general light surface wear, marks and scratches
- Some tarnishing to the silver with a little blackening to some areas
- Some scratches and pin prick marks to the surface of the enamel but overall appears in good order and colours are bright
- Hinges in good working order and box closes securely
- Some residues of dried polish and a little verdigris inside, and surface marks to the gilding
- Inner rim of lid is angled inwards slightly at the front
- With a mesh liner in a used state
- The Italian National mark is rubbed and distorted, possibly the first one (in use circa 1934-1944)
