Full Lot Description

A set of three parcel-gilt silver Gloucester Cathedral goblets, designed to commemorate the thirteenth centenary of its foundation, each with flared cup having gilded interior above architectural openwork stem and foot modelled with parapets and pinnacles to resemble the top of the Cathedral's tower. Hallmarked Hector Miller for Aurum, London 1981, limited edition nos. 40, 41 and 42 of 681. Height 16.5cm, total weight 31.71ozt (986.5g).

  • No boxes or certificates
  • Engraved to base, 'LIMITED EDITION OF 681 MADE BY ORDER OF THE DEAN AND CHAPTER OF GLOUCESTER TO COMMEMORATE THE THIRTEENTH CENTENARY OF THE FOUNDATION IN AD 681'
  • All three goblets appear in fairly good overall condition, displaying some general surface wear, marks and scratches
  • General tarnishing all over with blackening to some areas and crevices, particularly parts of the 'tower' bases
  • Some minor surface nicks and dints, including around edges
  • One of the flared cups shows some patches of heavier scratches and scuffs to exterior 
  • Some minor knocks to the tips of some of the pinnacles
  • Hallmarks located to base, all clear and legible with some minor rubbing; and further stamped AURUM
