A selection of car owners' memorabilia relating to mostly vehicles manufactured in Birmingham is set to sell for upwards of £500 at Fellows Auctioneers. Featuring memorabilia mainly related to cars manufactured at the Longbridge plant in Birmingham, the impressive cases include cufflinks, compacts, enamelled badges, key rings, and cloth badges. The two cased sets feature as Lot 656 in the timed, online-only Antiques, Silver & Collectables sale. With an estimate of £400 - £500, the item will sell on Monday 25th January.

Austin, MG, Riley and Wolseley were some of the British cars created in the West Midlands, notably at the Longbridge plant throughout the 20th century. Memorabilia from these cars, as well as from Morris vehicles (produced in Oxford), collected over the years is on sale in the cases at Fellows. Establishing itself as one of the biggest car producing factories in Britain, at one point the Longbridge plant had 25,000 staff. The plant produced prestigious British cars throughout both World Wars all the way up until 2016 when it ceased car production.
The automobilia up for auction at Fellows is placed inside two mid-twentieth century oak cases, each of hinged opening form, including glazed panelled interiors. The lot is a highlight in Fellows’ first Antiques, Silver & Collectables auction of 2021. The timed sale, which is live and available to view now, contains an alluring mix of historic antiques, coins, medals and more. Virtual viewings are available on any item in the sale, which will be operated via video software Zoom.
