A late Victorian diamond and amethyst locket, circa 1880. Of oval outline, the front with rectangular-shape amethyst and old-cut diamond sides, inset to the raised bar, with Gothic-script monogram reverse. Estimated total diamond weight 0.40ct. Length (excluding surmount loop) 3.4cms. Weight 16.6gms.

Purchasing information
    The lot is in good overall condition with light scratches in keeping with general wear. Discolouration to gilt finish on both sides. Monogram SMB or combination thereof. The diamonds appear bright and well matched. The limitations of the mount prevent accurate colour grading. Approximate colour grade J-K, possibly better, SI1 clarity. Inside reveals glazed panel with hand-tinted photograph of a young gentleman, generally good condition.
