An early 20th century platinum diamond tiara. Of openwork design, the old-cut diamond floral centrepiece, with similarly-cut diamond collet spray, to the similarly-set foliate sides. Estimated total diamond weight 28 to 30cts, principal diamonds estimated I-K colour, SI1-P1 clarity. Total weight 118gms. With case.

Purchasing information- Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
- Diamonds fairly well matched, slightly varied in colour and clarity, with a mix of old and rose-cut diamonds used to the sides.
- Diamonds generally bright.
- Individual size and setting of non-principal diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.
- Non-principal diamonds with light to moderate inclusions under 10x magnification, some surface reaching.
- Some diamonds chipped.
- Height of centrepiece section 7cms.
- Inner diameter 13.5cms.
- Tiara not well fitted to case.
- Metal electronically tests as mostly platinum, with base metal component to the reverse.
- Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
