Lot Description

An open face keyless wind Kreigsmarine pocket watch by International Watch Co circa 1940s, the silvered dial with black Arabic numerals and subsidiary seconds dial and blue steel hands, the plain nickel case stamped IWC Probus Scafusia, numbered 1074906 and the reverse marked with the Kreigsmarine second class chronometer watch mark and issue number M 1566, the signed calibre 67 fifteen jewel movement is numbered 1030606, having overcoil hairspring and micro regulator. Together with a base metal Albert chain. Case diameter 49mm.

The case back has scuff marks and a few light knocks or dents, with lots of light surface marks and scratches,  the main band is in good condition as is the bezel, the inner cover has marks and scratches, the bow has wear to the top plating, the winding crown is in good condition, the acrylic crystal has yellowed, the dial has substantial speckling throughout, which looks like lifting to the surface lacquer, the blue steel hands have surface corrosion, the movement is fairly clean and currently in running order, hand setting operating, but hands slightly out of sync, base metal Albert chain is complete and in good condition, measuring 15.5 Inches, the item is supplied with a Smiths presentation box.
