Lot 376

Lot Description

Edwardian silver sovereign case with scroll engraving and initial engraved shield cartouche, hallmarked Birmingham 1906, attached to a belcher link chain with suspended fobs and watch key. Gross weight 30 grams.

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The sovereign case and chain display general scratches, dints, marks and tarnishing. The sovereign case in particular appears in quite poor condition with numerous dents, the clasp also not in good working order and the engraved decoration displays some loss of definition. The chain is heavily tarnished and would benefit from a clean and polish, the chain is of a white coloured metal, no visible marks visible to identify the metal. There is a smooth area to the engine turned interior of the sovereign holder and a file mark to the suspended T-bar possible from acid tests. The hallmarks to the sovereign case partly distorted but legible.
