A pair of ivory carved okimono of musicians, each of sectional design modelled in standing pose holding

a ‘shamisen’ or three-stringed lute, he with scraped hair and top-knot, she a bijin or geisha, on mound

base, 6.5” (16.5cm) high (2)

Male - two haircracks to face. Head reattached at neck. Joints wide at shoulders and knees - one leg loose at knee. Feet loose upon base. Red seal mark missing from underside.


Female - dark crack through forehead. Some joint widening, one foot reattached to base.
