A late 18th century oak and mahogany cased eight day painted dial longcase clock, John Winstanley, Holywell, North Wales, circa 1790. Having a 13" (33cm) square dial with Roman hours and Arabic minutes framing subsidiary seconds dial, perching birds and calendar crescent over inscribed makers name 'Jno. Winstanley HOLYWELL' within floral spandrels, the movement with false-plate cast 'Osbornes MANUFACTORY Birmingham, with four knopped pillars striking on a bell. The case having a flat hood with fluted columns over yoke-topped cross-banded long trunk door between fluted quadrant columns on a cross-banded base and ogee bracket feet. 82.5" (209.5cm) high
