Lot 128

Lot Description

A late Victorian mourning brooch circa 1880 of circular design, with central sardonyx  cabochon, foliate surround and engraved floral black enamel border to the decorative hair panel reverse. Diameter 3.7cms.

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Overall fair to good condition, with very light surface scratches, the clasp is broken and is possibly a replacement pin, there are two small dint to the reverse of the brooch near the hinge. The contents of the reverse panel are in good condition with only minor debris inside. There are minor nicks to the enamel, but these are surface nicks so do not reveal the metal below. The brooch would benefit from a clean. We have had this brooch tested and it is a thick gold plate. The brooch has a safety chain attached.
