Lot Description

Edwardian silver pair of candlesticks, each with vase shaped socket above a fluted column tapering towards a spreading oval base, also with fluted decoration, the whole with reeded borders and embossed throughout with trailing wheat ear motifs.  Hallmarked James Dixon & Sons Ltd., Sheffield 1905 and 1908. (filled bases).  Height measures 8 inches (20.5 cm).

Both candlesticks display general wear, a little tarnishing and surface marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use.  There are some deeper scratches in places and various minor nicks in the metal, mainly visible to edges and rims.  There are also a small number of minor surface dints.  Hallmarks are clear and legible.
