George III silver pair of pedestal open salts, each of oval form with gadrooning to rim and engraved crest to one side above a fluted lower body, the whole with gilded interior, twin reeded loop handles and raised above a stepped oval foot with a conforming gadrooned border.  Hallmarked London 1785, maker's mark WP, possibly for William Pitts. Both salts display general wear, some tarnishing and general surface marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use.  Giilding to the interiors is quite worn and marked in places.  Various minor nicks/dints in the metal and some edge knocks around the foot rims.  Remnants of polish in some areas and some slight loss of detail to engraved crests.  Some slight distortion to maker's marks but main hallmarks clear and legible.
