Lot Description

A Victorian Bachelor size cream and sugar basin, the wrythen bodies with scrolling acanthus leaf borders and angular handles and ball feet, together with two pairs of similar wrythen salts, one pair with matching spoons. Cream and sugar hallmarked Charles Stuart Harris, London 1889 and 1891. Total silver weight 5.17 ozt (160.8 grams).

The lot is in good overall condition with light scratches and small dents in keeping with general wear. The decoration to the cream and sugar partially obscure some of the hallmarks. The handle has been repaired to the cream jug. The salts are hallmarked Horace Woodward, Birmingham 1901 and Haseler Brothers (Edward John Haseler and Noble Haseler) Birmingham 1890. Height of salts 7/8 of an inch and 1 1/8 inch (2.2 - 2.8cm). One pair of salts also comes with an associated pair of silver plated spoons. There is general tarnish and wear to the gilt finish. Some hallmarks show minor wear.
