Lot Description

A continental cigarette case of oblong form, the reticulated surface of naturalistic appearance, gold tone thumb piece set with chalcedony opening to reveal a gilt interior. Marked 84 alongside a fleur-de-lis. Length measuring 3 7/8 inches (9.8 cm), weight 6.3 ozt (197 grams.

The case displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  There is some slight loss of detail to the decoration in places and contact marks to the flange.  Hinged cover is in good working order.  The marks are difficult to find amongst the decoration but are legible.  It is also marked M within a shield shape punch to the underside.
