Lot Description

A George III silver key wind pair case John Alston pocket watch, the white dial with hourly applied black Roman numerals, bordered by a minute track, circular shaped case, hallmarked Birmingham 1811, personal inscription to rear, fitted with a signed full plate fusee and chain movement with verge escapement and pierced balance cock. Outer case diameter 57mm. Watch A/F.

John Alston pair case pocket watch, movement is currently not functioning, movement is at fault and will require attention, fussee chain is broken and is warped and deformed so will require replacing, the movement is loose from the dial and is missing the pins, dial is heavily damaged and a large portion of enamel is missing from the centre of the dial, dial shows noticeable cracks, discolouration and marks, hands are discoloured and marked, glass is scratched and marked, case has medium scratches case back shows dents and personal engraving, hinge to inner case functions, bow and pendant are scratched, outer case is scratched and discoloured, hinges function, button to outer case is missing and so case does not secure.
