Lot Description

A 19th century inlaid rosewood dressing box. The hinged rectangular cover, with foliate scroll inlay, enclosing a fitted interior of three silver-lidded glass toiletry jars, hallmarked beneath the cork stoppers London, 1854, maker JH (John  Harris), engraved with an Earl's five-ball coronet over cursive initials, two bottles of reeded square form, the third reeded cylindrical, each with gadrooned shoulders, the box 9.5" x 4.5" x 5.25" high, (24cm x 11.5cm x 13.5cm high).

Box is likely to be later than hallmarks - probably circa 1890. Some minor scratching and varnish scuffing to box. Slightly chipping to a couple of glass jars lobes but contents overall very good.
