Lot Description

A nineteenth century Chinese export cruet stand modelled as a rickshaw with wirework articulated wheels, fruiting lobed mustard pot present. Marked CS, attributed to Cumshing, alongside Chinese character mark, the rickshaw also marked 205. Length of rickshaw measuring 7 1/2 inches (19 cm), gross weight 7.5 ozt (235 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.

There is a small drilled hole beneath one of vacant spaces for either a salt or pepper. There are some minor dents and bumps, the back plate also appears twisted. Missing two condiments, pepper and salt. The cruet does not sit flat/flush to the surface. The hinge to the mustard is broken, no liner or gilding to the interior. Chinese marks present to the inside lid of the mustard, these distorted. and to the back of the rickshaw, these clear.
