Lot Description

An Edwardian silver match box case of plain oblong form, hallmarked Elkington & Co Ltd, Birmingham 1908, length measuring 7.4 cm. Together with a 1930's silver vesta box of hinged oblong form with engine turned decoration, personal inscription to the inner lid and disposable striking plates to the base, length measuring 6.2 cm. Gross weight 3.8 ozt (19.8 grams). (2).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Some dents to each piece, particular dents to the corners of the vesta box. Interior base of the match box is heavily discoloured, gilding worn to the lid interior and the striking plates to the base would require replacing. The hallmarks to the match case have been partially erased.
