Lot Description

A Victorian silver christening mug, of cylindrical form, the oval shaped cartouche with contemporary personal engraving, to the embossed foliate band and geometric sides, with beaded rims and plain 'C' shaped handle. Hallmarked Fenton Brothers, Sheffield 1875. Height 3 5/16 inches (8.4 cm), weight 4.29 ozt (133.5 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Very slight wear to the hallmarks. Scratch marks to base. Personal engraving possibly JOG or JUG, Aug't 11th 1876. Traces of gilt to interior.
