Lot 83

Lot Description

A William IV silver six division toast rack of trefoil outline with central loop handle and raised above an openwork oblong base with gadrooned rim interspersed with shell and foliate motifs and with four conforming paw feet.  Hallmarked Henry Wilkinson & Co., Sheffield 1831.  Maximum length measures 7 3/8 inches (18.7 cm), weight 11.88 ozt (369.6 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The toast rack appears in fairly poor condition.  There is a repair to at least one of the corner feet.  Further repairs to some of the wire divisions and the loop handle is bent over causing several splits in the metal.  The upright support is also a little bent.  Otherwise the general overall condition displays surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use, also some surface dints and bumps.  The hallmarks appear a little rubbed but legible.
