Lot Description

A late Victorian selection of four silver pepperettes, to include a pair of baluster form with star and scroll engraved tops, a cut glass scent bottle with silver rim, stopper deficient, together with an Edwardian glass dressing table jar with scrolling foliate embossed silver lid. Pair of pepperettes hallmarked E S Barnsley & Co, Birmingham 1896. Gross weighable silver 4.19 ozt (130.3 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The glass jar has a small hole drilled to one side. General small frits and nicks to both items of glass. Scent bottle deficient lid. Silver rim with obvious dents. Silver lid to glass jar with noticeable dents to one edge. All pepperettes with hallmarks for Birmingham 1896. Maker's marks include E S Barnsley & Co, Robert Pringle & Sons and J R, partially rubbed. Moderate wear to most hallmarks, most still legible.
