A pair of George II cast silver candlesticks by John Cafe, of knopped baluster form with reeded banding, engraved crest to the foot of the stem, matching crest to the detachable nozzles, each raised on fluted and stepped dodecagonal bases. Hallmarked John Cafe, London 1753. Height measuring 9 1/4 inches (23.5 cm), gross weight 41.7 ozt (1300 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.
Pitts and dints visible to the silver. Lion passant visible to the socket of one. Maker's marks distorted. One engraved to the underside No 2 21 15, the other is engraved No 1 22=0. No hallmarks to the detachable nozzles.
