Lot Description
A Victorian silver christening mug, of slightly tapering outline above a footed base, decorated with floral and foliate trailing borders and wreaths enclosing butterfly motifs and engraved personal initials, with a plain 'C' shape handle. Hallmarked London 1888. Height measures 3 1/8 inches (8 cm), weight 3.13 ozt (97.3 grams).

Condition Report
The mug displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The rim is slightly out of shape and there are a couple of knocks to the foot rim, one fairly large. Also some dints to the main body, mainly visible to the curved lower section. Slight crack appearing along a seam line, near to the top of the handle. Slight loss of surface detail or definition to some of the decoration. The hallmarks appear rubbed but legible.
