Lot Description

A late nineteenth century silver vanity bottle, the cylindrical body embossed with foliate scrolls, oblique fluting to the shoulders and hinged domed lid. Hallmarked William Neale, Chester 1889. Height measuring 3 1/2 inches (9 cm).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.

Areas of much heavier tarnishing. Large dent to the domed lid. Two file marks and acid tests. The hallmarks are clear and legible, maker's mark is partly obscured. Gross weight which includes the cork to lid 71.5 grams.
