Lot Description

A George III silver quart tankard, the baluster form with applied reeded girdle, hinged and domed cover, the scrolling handle with open-work thumb piece and heart terminal, standing on a spread circular footed base. Hallmarked London 1764, with the maker's mark 'WC', tentatively attributed to William Cripps. Maximum height 7 3/4 inches (19.5 cm), weight 24.9 ozt (775 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.

No personal engravings to the piece. There does look to have been a solder repair to one side of the thumb-piece. A little dimpling visible to the underside of the handle. Soft solder visible to the interior of the lid, along one of the embossed lines.
