Lot 92

Lot Description

A Victorian silver christening mug, of moulded baluster outline and engraved with various flowers, foliate capped double scroll handle and raised above a pierced base with further scroll and foliate motifs. Hallmarked Daniel & Charles Houle, London 1854. Height including handle measures 4 1/2 inches (11.3 cm), weight 5 ozt (156 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The mug displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  Some small surface dints and bumps.  Quite dense pitting visible to the interior base.  Slight loss of surface detail to some of the decoration but the engraving is still fairly good.  It wobbles a little when in the standing position.  The hallmarks, located to the underside, are clear and legible.
