Lot Description
An agate, jet and paste bead necklace, the thirteen graduated circular banded agate beads with nine jet beads to the ends, interspaced by circular white paste beads, to the screw-thread clasp. Agate beads measure 18.9 to 13.4mms. Length 40cms.

Condition Report
Overall condition fair. Some surface wear in keeping with age/general wear. Agate beads date from the late 19th century, later adapted/assembled with jet and white paste beads, string and clasp. Significant discolouration and wear to the clasp. Green staining and discolouration to the string. We would recommend restringing. One agate bead in poor condition with a significant fracture and large nicks, durability may be impaired. Other agate beads in good condition with some abrasion and nicks. White paste beads discoloured. Paste and jet beads in fair condition with abrasion and nibbles. Please see Important Notices for Purchasers in our catalogue or on our website for coloured gemstones.
