Lot Description

A nineteenth century 9ct gold, agate and miniature portrait vinaigrette, of oval outline, the miniature on ivory depicting a sitting figure within a garden, to the rock crystal top, banded agate base and plain mounts, with geometric pierced grille. Length 3.5 cm, weight 18.8 grams.

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with age and use. Miniature possible later replacement. Slight staining to the base of the oval panel, near the figures feet. General slight discolouration. The orange and colourless banded agate with slight frits to the edge. General light surface scratches. Slight wear to the mounts. Unmarked tests as 9ct gold.
