Lot Description

A mid-nineteenth century 18ct gold gem set vinaigrette, the faceted citrine lid and base, hinged to the circular turquoise cabochon grip and central floral embossed panel rim, with engraved and pierced thistle and rose grille. Length 3.2 cm, weight 26.5 grams.

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with age and use. Possible French assay marks to mount, very worn. Slight, small dents to mount, tests as 18ct gold. Citrine are a pale yellow hue. Significant surface abrasion. One slight deep scratch. The turquoise are a medium light blue through medium green hue. Loop later addition/replacement. Length including loop 1 5/8 inches (4.2cm).
