Lot Description

A William IV silver vinaigrette by Nathaniel Mills, of oblong form with raised and moulded edge and having engine turned decoration throughout, the lid with central engraved monogram and opening to reveal a silver-gilt grille pierced with foliate scrolls. Hallmarked Birmingham 1834. Measuring 3.5 cm by 2.2 cm, weight 16 grams.

Postage: Auction Default

Total lot weight: No

The vinaigrette appears in fairly good overall condition displaying general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  Slightly heavier wear around edges and to corners, where some small dints are visible.  Some slight loss of surface detail to decoration but it is still good.  Hinges appear in good working order.  Some tarnishing to the gilded interior.  The hallmarks appear a little rubbed but still legible.
